TheStruggleville Tests the GKU D600 Pro Max in a BMW M240i

What does the GKU D600 Pro Max look like when it is installed and used in a real car?

In this hands-on video, TheStruggleville installs the D600 Pro Max in a BMW M240i and takes it out for a real-world drive. From opening the box and choosing a mounting method to viewing footage from both cameras, the video offers a practical look at the complete setup.

The D600 Pro Max featured in this video was provided by GKU.

Unboxing the D600 Pro Max

The D600 Pro Max is a two-channel dash cam designed to record both the road ahead and the area behind the vehicle.

During the unboxing, TheStruggleville introduces the main camera, rear camera, power adapter, connecting cable and mounting accessories.

The front camera records in 4K when used alone. When both cameras are recording, the front camera captures video at 3200 × 1800, while the rear camera records in 1080P.

This front-and-rear setup provides a more complete view of the journey. The front camera records traffic, road signs and events ahead, while the rear camera can capture approaching vehicles, rear-end collisions and situations that continue after another vehicle passes the front camera.GKU D600 Pro Max dash cam and accessories inside the product box

Two Mounting Options for the Front Camera

One practical detail highlighted in the video is the choice between a suction cup mount and an adhesive mount.

The suction cup is useful for drivers who may want to remove the camera, adjust its position or transfer it to another vehicle. The adhesive mount creates a cleaner and more permanent installation for everyday use.GKU D600 Pro Max front camera with suction cup mount beside a BMW M240iThe D600 Pro Max with its suction cup mount. The rear camera attaches to the back window with an adhesive mount. Its long cable can be routed along the headliner and interior trim before connecting to the main camera.

In the video, both cameras are installed in a BMW M240i, allowing viewers to see how the complete system fits inside a real vehicle rather than only viewing the dash cam on a table.

Before attaching the camera, it is helpful to clean the windshield and check the viewing angle. The camera should have a clear view of the road without blocking the driver’s vision.

Simple Power Setup

For regular driving recording, the D600 Pro Max connects to the BMW’s 12V power outlet.

The included adapter also provides an additional USB port, allowing the driver to charge a phone or another compatible device while the dash cam remains connected.

Once the camera receives power, it can begin recording automatically. Drivers do not need to manually start a new recording before every journey.

Parking monitoring is also supported, but it requires a compatible GKU USB-C hardwire kit to provide power after the vehicle is turned off.

Taking the BMW M240i Out on the Road

After completing the installation, TheStruggleville takes the BMW M240i out for a drive to demonstrate the footage recorded by the two cameras.

The front camera captures the road, nearby vehicles and surrounding environment. At the same time, the rear camera continues recording traffic behind the car.

This is one of the most useful parts of the video because viewers can evaluate the footage in an actual driving environment. Moving vehicles, road details and changes in the surrounding scene provide a more realistic demonstration than specifications or carefully selected screenshots alone.Daytime road footage recorded by the GKU D600 Pro Max during a real-world testDaytime road footage captured during TheStruggleville’s real-world test. Dash cam footage can be affected by several factors, including camera position, windshield condition, lighting, weather and vehicle speed. If your recordings appear unclear, read our guide explaining why dash cam footage looks blurry and how to fix it.

Continuous Recording and Emergency Protection

TheStruggleville also introduces the D600 Pro Max’s loop recording and G-sensor functions.

Loop recording divides footage into selectable one-, three- or five-minute clips. When the memory card becomes full, the oldest regular clips are overwritten so the camera can continue recording.

If the built-in G-sensor detects sudden braking or an impact, the related video can be locked to help prevent it from being overwritten during normal loop recording.

This allows the dash cam to operate quietly in the background while helping preserve important footage when an unexpected incident occurs. Learn more about how a dash cam G-sensor works.

The D600 Pro Max also features built-in Wi-Fi and GPS. Wi-Fi connects the dash cam to the GKU GO app when the phone is nearby, while GPS records information such as the driving route, location and speed.

A Note About the Memory Card

The D600 Pro Max reviewed by TheStruggleville came with a pre-installed 64GB microSD card and was ready to begin recording.

However, package contents may vary depending on the selected version, retailer and region. Some D600 Pro Max packages do not include a memory card, so buyers should check the current product listing before ordering.

When purchasing a card separately, a high-endurance U3/V30 microSD card is recommended for continuous dash cam recording.

What the Real-World Test Shows

The main value of TheStruggleville’s video is that it shows the complete experience in a real vehicle.

Viewers can see:

  • The reviewed D600 Pro Max package and accessories

  • The front and rear camera setup

  • The suction cup and adhesive mounting options

  • Installation inside a BMW M240i

  • Simultaneous front and rear recording

  • Actual footage captured during a road test

Specifications can help drivers compare different dash cams, but an installation and driving demonstration provide a clearer idea of how the system works in everyday use.

The D600 Pro Max combines front-and-rear coverage with flexible mounting and automatic recording features. Watch the complete video above to see the setup and evaluate the road footage for yourself.
