Can I manually lock a video so it won’t be overwritten?
Yes. Please press the Function button once to lock a video. After you press it, the dash cam will start recording an emergency (locked) video. You’ll see a lock icon on the screen and hear a voice prompt confirming the video is locked.
Locked videos are saved in the Locked folder and won’t be overwritten by normal loop recording, so please remember to delete locked files manually after you back up anything important. Please note: Only the video recorded after you press the button will be locked. The footage recorded before you press the button is normal loop recording and can be overwritten.
What’s loop recording?
It records in short clips (1/3/5 minutes). When the card is full, it overwrites the oldest unlocked clips so it can keep recording.
Why can I only choose 1/3/5 minutes?
That’s how loop recording works. Short clips are easier to save, search, and protect during incidents.
Does it record audio? Can I turn audio off?
Yes. You can turn audio recording on/off in settings.
Will loop recording overwrite locked videos?
No. Please note: locked videos are protected and won’t be overwritten by normal loop recording.
IR Cabin Night Vision
Does the inside camera record in the dark?
Yes. The cabin camera has 4 IR LEDs and will switch to IR night vision automatically in low light, so it can capture cabin footage even in darkness.
Why does the cabin video look black-and-white at night?
Please don’t worry—IR night vision is typically black-and-white. That’s normal and helps improve clarity in very dark environments.
SD Card & Storage
What microSD card size does it support?
32GB–512GB.
What type of microSD card do you recommend?
Please use a Class 10 U3 (or faster) microSD card from a reliable brand (Samsung/SanDisk are common good options).
Do I have to format the card before first use?
Yes. New cards should be formatted in the GKU GO app.
The app can’t format my card—what do I do?
Format the card to FAT32 on a computer first, then format it again in the app.
The camera keeps beeping and won’t record—why?
Usually the card is missing, unrecognized, or faulty. Format or replace the microSD card.
Will locked videos get overwritten by loop recording?
No. Locked videos won’t be overwritten by normal loop recording. Locked clips are saved in the Locked folder, and they will not be replaced by the loop function. If you need to free up space, you’ll need to delete locked files manually (after backing up any important clips).
How often should I format the card?
If you use the camera daily, backing up important files and formatting periodically can help keep recording stable.
The dash cam shows recording, but I can’t find the videos—where are they?
Please check the app’s Camera Files first. If needed, please remove the microSD card and use a card reader to view files on a computer. If there are still no videos, the card may be faulty—please format the card or try a better card (Class 10 U3 or faster).

GPS speed can differ slightly from your car’s speedometer. That’s normal.
Parking Mode
Does D900 support 24-hour parking monitoring?
Yes—but it requires a separate hardwire kit (not included).
What parking modes are supported?
Impact detection (G-sensor trigger) and Time-lapse. Both require the hardwire kit.
How does impact detection parking mode work?
After you turn off the engine, the dash cam will power down automatically (this feature requires the hardwire kit ).
If the camera detects an impact while parked, it will turn on automatically, start recording, and save the clip as a locked video.
What is time-lapse parking recording?
Time-lapse recording will start only after you turn off the engine (parking mode requires the hardwire kit ).
It records at a lower frame rate to save power and storage, so you can keep monitoring your car while it’s parked for longer.
How do I enable 24-hour parking monitor?
Install a compatible hardwire kit first, then enable parking features in settings.
Where are parking videos saved?
They are saved on the microSD card like other recordings.
Time-lapse parking videos are saved in the Loop (normal) folder.
Impact/event videos (triggered by collision detection) are saved in the Locked folder.
Will installing the hardwire kit drain my car battery?
Please don’t worry—our parking mode is designed to help reduce battery drain.
After you turn off the engine, time-lapse parking recording uses a low frame rate, which helps save power.
Our hardwire kit includes a low-voltage protection feature. If your vehicle battery voltage drops too low, the kit will automatically cut off power and shut down the dash cam to help prevent the battery from being drained.
What voltage does this hardwire kit use, and what fuse amp rating should I use?
Please don’t worry—this hardwire kit is designed specifically for vehicle use.
Input voltage: It supports 12V–24V vehicle electrical systems, which works with most cars, SUVs, and trucks.
Output voltage: It converts vehicle power to a stable 5V output, which is the voltage the dash cam needs.
Fuse amp rating: The dash cam’s power draw is very small, so a 2A or 3A fuse is enough for normal use.
How do I install the hardwire kit (step-down voltage kit)?
Step 1: Locate your vehicle’s fuse box
Please find your fuse box using your vehicle’s Fuse Box Diagram (owner’s manual or fuse box cover diagram).
Please open the fuse box cover. Some covers lift by a small tab; others may require gently prying a panel—please use the included trim tool if needed.
If you have trouble locating the fuse box, please let us know and we’ll help.
Step 2: Identify the correct fuse slots (ACC + Constant Power)
You will need two fuse slots:
Constant Power fuse (Yellow wire): provides power all the time, even when the engine is off. (Required for parking mode.)
ACC fuse (Red wire): provides power only when the key is in ACC/ON. (Used for normal driving recording.)
Step 3: Connect the Red & Yellow fuse taps (Add-A-Fuse) and verify with a voltmeter
Please use a voltmeter to confirm you picked the correct fuse slots:
Red Wire (ACC): Please turn the car key to the ACC position. Please test the aluminum end of the RED Add-A-Fuse with a voltmeter. If you see voltage, it confirms this slot is powered in ACC.
Yellow Wire (Constant/B+): Please turn the car off. Please test the aluminum end of the YELLOW Add-A-Fuse with a voltmeter. If you still see voltage, it confirms this slot is constant (always-on) power.
Step 4: Locate a good ground point (Black wire)
Please connect the Black wire (Ground) to a solid metal screw/bolt on the vehicle chassis. We strongly recommend using a proper ground point for stable power.
Please note: an improper ground connection may cause the dash cam to malfunction or restart intermittently.
After wiring, please power on the dash cam and confirm it records normally. Please check that Parking Mode appears in the app/settings after a correct hardwire installation. If your fuse type doesn’t match the fuse taps you have, please contact us
Rear Camera & View Settings
Is the rear camera waterproof?
No. It’s recommended to install it inside the vehicle.
Can I flip the rear view left/right or up/down?
Yes. The rear view can be flipped in settings for flexible installation.
How long is the rear camera cable?
The rear camera cable is 19.69 ft long. If the cable isn’t long enough for your vehicle, we also offer a rear camera extension cable. Please contact the GKU support team, and they can send you one.
The rear camera shows no image—what should I do?
Please re-seat the rear camera cable on both ends and restart the dash cam. If it still shows no signal, please contact GKU support.
Playback & File Export
Can I watch videos on my computer?
Yes. Use a card reader to view files, and use the GKU Player for GPS track playback.
Why does my computer say the file won’t play?
Try playing the video with the GKU Player or another video player. Some built-in/default players don’t work well with dash cam video formats, which can cause playback issues.
Can I remotely view the dash cam when I’m away from the car?

Troubleshooting
It won’t power on—what should I check first?
Make sure your car power is on and the charger is plugged in securely. Then try powering the dash cam using the included cigarette lighter power cable or a USB power cable to check whether the issue is related to the power source or cable.
After installing with the car charger (cigarette lighter), my dash cam keeps recording even after the engine is off.
How can I make it shut off automatically?
How can I make it shut off automatically?
Please don’t worry—this is usually not a dash cam problem. If you’re using the included cigarette lighter power cable (or a USB power cable) and the camera is still recording a few minutes after you turn off the engine, it usually means your vehicle’s power outlet is constant power (always-on).
In other words, the dash cam is still receiving power, so it will keep recording.
Please try one of the following options:
Please use a different power outlet in your vehicle.
Some cars have one outlet that stays on all the time and another outlet that turns off with the engine. If you switch to an ignition-switched outlet, the dash cam will shut off automatically after the car powers down.
Please use another power method.
If your outlet is always-on, you may want to use a different power setup that turns off with the vehicle.
Please unplug the power cable after you turn off the engine.
This is the simplest way to make sure the dash cam stops recording and helps prevent battery drain.
I can’t preview in real time in the app
Confirm Wi-Fi is connected, close/reopen the app, and close other apps in the background.
The dash cam won’t turn on / keeps restarting—what should I do?
Try these steps in order:
Use the original car charger cable that came in the box. Non-original power accessories may provide unstable power, which can cause system issues.
Test a different power method: use a USB-A to USB-C cable (standard USB-A on one end, USB-C on the other) to power the camera for testing.
Avoid USB-C to USB-C (C-C) cables for testing. Many C-C cables won’t power the device unless they support PD (Power Delivery). A USB-A to USB-C cable is the most reliable way to test stable power.
Remove the microSD card, then try powering on again.
If the camera is stable without the card, the issue may be related to the memory card.If the issue still continues, please contact the GKU support team for help.
The camera shuts off randomly—could the power cable be the cause?
Yes. Unstable power is a common cause. Please use the original cigarette lighter power cable first. If you want to test USB power, use a USB-A to USB-C cable (avoid C-C cables unless they support PD).
Why are my videos missing gaps (skipped time)?
Gaps can happen with a slow or failing memory card, or if power briefly drops. Use the original power cable and a higher-quality microSD card.
It shows it’s recording, but I can’t find the videos—where are they?
Please try the steps below:
Please open the app and check Camera Files to see if your clips are listed there.
If you still can’t find the videos, please remove the microSD card and use a card reader to check the files on a computer.
If there are still no videos, please note the microSD card may not be saving properly. Please try formatting the card in the app, then record again and re-check.
For best results, please use a Class 10 U3 (or faster) microSD card. Samsung or SanDisk are great choices.
I can’t format the microSD card / formatting fails—what should I do?
Please try these steps:
Please make sure the microSD card is fully inserted into the dash cam (push it in until it clicks).
Please use a name-brand microSD card with Class 10 U3 or faster performance. We recommend 64GB or 128GB cards. Samsung or SanDisk are great choices.
Please open the GKU GO app → go to Settings → find Format microSD Card and try formatting.
If you can’t tap “Format” or you see an error, please remove the card and use a card reader to format it on a computer first (FAT32). Then insert it back into the dash cam and please format it once more in the app.
If formatting still fails, please try a different/new microSD card.
Wi-Fi won’t connect / I can’t connect the dash cam to my phone
Please try the steps below :
Please reset the dash cam.
Please press and hold the Function button for about 5 seconds until you hear a beep or the device restarts. This means the dash cam has been reset.
If you connected before, please also go to your phone Wi-Fi settings and Forget the dash cam Wi-Fi network first.
Please reinstall the app.
Please delete the GKU GO app and install it again. Please also make sure your phone system settings and app permissions are allowed.
Please reconnect to the dash cam Wi-Fi .
Before connecting, please turn OFF your VPN, cellular data, and Bluetooth. Please keep Wi-Fi only.
Please make sure the dash cam is powered on.
On your phone, go to Wi-Fi → find the network name like GKU_XXXX_XXXXX → tap Connect.

Please use the buttons on the dash cam to enter the Settings menu, and confirm that Wi-Fi is enabled.
Please switch the Wi-Fi band to 2.4GHz.
In Settings, please change the Wi-Fi band from 5GHz/5.8GHz to 2.4GHz. (Some phones detect 2.4GHz more easily.)
Please restart both the dash cam and the app.
Please reboot the dash cam, then fully close and reopen the app. After that, please refresh your phone’s Wi-Fi list and look again for the dash cam network.
Please try another phone (if possible).
If you still don’t see the dash cam Wi-Fi, please try searching with a different phone to confirm whether it’s a phone compatibility/setting issue.
If it still doesn’t appear, please contact GKU support.
Please reach out to the GKU support team and share your phone model and iOS/Android version—we’ll help you troubleshoot quickly.
I installed a hardwire kit, but parking mode doesn’t work (no recording after engine off). What should I do?
Please try the checks below:
Please make sure you are using the GKU hardwire kit.
Different brands may use different voltage settings or communication methods, and they may not be fully compatible with your GKU dash cam.
Please check the fuse box wiring (very important).
Please connect the Yellow wire to a Constant Power (BAT) fuse — this fuse stays powered even when the engine is off (required for parking mode).
Please connect the Red wire to an ACC/ignition fuse — this fuse is powered only when the ignition is on (for normal driving recording).
Please connect the Black wire to a solid metal ground point on the vehicle chassis.
Please check the app settings after wiring is correct.
Once the hardwire kit is connected correctly, you should see the Parking Mode / Parking Monitor option appear in the GKU GO app settings.
My phone keeps auto-connecting to another Wi-Fi (like my car’s Wi-Fi), so it won’t connect to the dash cam—what can I do?
Please don’t worry—this is usually a phone Wi-Fi behavior, not a dash cam issue.
A phone can normally keep only one Wi-Fi connection at a time. If your phone is already connected to your car’s Wi-Fi, it can’t connect to the dash cam Wi-Fi.
Also, the dash cam Wi-Fi does not provide internet. It’s only used for the app (live view/settings) and video transfer. Because of that, your phone may prefer another Wi-Fi network (like your car’s Wi-Fi) that has internet access.
Please try one of these options:
Please turn off your car’s Wi-Fi temporarily, then connect to the dash cam Wi-Fi.
Or please go to your phone Wi-Fi settings and disable Auto-Join for the car’s Wi-Fi (or tap Forget This Network).
